Founding Day
A drawn journey across the Kingdom at golden hour — from the mud walls of At-Turaif to the tombs of AlUla — for The Bold Group’s Founding Day film.
01 The film
One minute, one long day. Palms part on At-Turaif, kids roll a wheel down an alley, an eagle wipes us onto horseback and through the gate of Diriyah. Riyadh rises tower by tower — the water tower, the Kingdom Centre, Al Faisaliah — a bisht sweeps the frame into the modern city, and a single parallax carries the camera all the way to AlUla before the clouds lift the Founding Day mark.
02 The craft
- Animated on 12s, but not evenly: the acting holds its drawings, while camera moves run smoother and faster.
- The Riyadh-to-AlUla parallax is one continuous 14-second move — never cut, never broken into parts.
- Transitions are drawn objects: an eagle’s wing, the sweep of a bisht, a hot-air balloon, rising clouds.
